Lots of energy in a short time.
Poor Scott. Happy for the Raha l-Letterman team though.

Yeah. That was just an awful angle to hit the pit entry. And the audio...yikes.

I texted my sister on lap 1 that Scott was going to win it. So close!
Also, she just pointed out that Taku has won 100% of the races that Alonso has run.

So...your sister has 64 tentacles?

I wonder if Sato could have held Scott off for the final 3 laps. Maybe Sato runs out of fuel? We’ll never know unfortunately

I’m so glad he was able to get out of the car mostly on his own, because I think the tub broke. It looked to me like the nose wiggled as if it was cracked or partially loose on the rest of the tub. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t have some broken bone( s) in his legs, but happy if that’s the extent of it because that was possibly the worst angle to hit there.

He was very lucky. And I’m glad they didn’t try to delay for a long track repair to manufacture a dramatic NASCAR style finish. People forget or don’t know Rick Mears won his third under yellow. Emerson Fittipaldi won his first under yellow. It happens.

I don’t remember why I did that but I remember why it’s a bad idea every time I use Bluetooth in a rental car.

That sudden deceleration sideways offers up so many traumatic internal injury possibilities that can be dangerous. I hope he has a boring evaluation at the hospital.

Agreed. It would have been a half hour at least. And my bet it would have been an improvised repair of the tire stack. Meanwhile the red flag would have been occuring all while Spencer is being worked on still at his car with with the officials not being totally sure what his condition is.
And if that is not bad enough, imagine if there was another even worse wreck in the three lap shootout. It was a good show, I am totally fine with the stewards saying let’s call it a day.
One last note is I am 50/50 on the Rossi penalty. Rossi banged his rear wheel to Sato’s front. Had he taken Sato’s wing off, I would have understand giving an eye for an eye penalty. But a quick check showed this was a no harm no foul territory incident. It was kind of a crummy end of the “Month of August” for Andretti Racing.

Im constantly amazed by what you can survive in a modern car, race or otherwise
